Deliverable 3.3 - PHA electro-hydrodynamic processing
RES URBIS is an european project which aims to convert urban bio waste into valuable bio-based products in an integrated single biowaste biorefinery and by using one main technology chain. For this purpose, much interest has been put in the use of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and related PHA-based bioplastics, since these polymers can be used to create packaging solutions from non-fossil sources. Consequently, RES URBIS has been working on the extraction and production of PHA for bio based packaging products as well as its processing. For the latter, various extracted PHAs have been processed by electrohydrodynamic processing as a promising tool to generate films for biopackaing applications. This deliverable, named as D3.3 “Report on PHA electro-hydrodynamic (EHD) processing to obtain interlayer films for biopackaging applications” aims to describe the results obtained by processing PHA by EHD processing and how this can contribute in the field of biopackaging solutions.
